Be a Part
of the P.A.L. Experience by Becoming a PAL Instructor!
Description: By using The Declaration of Independence as the
textual foundation for the curriculum, Project American Life instructors will
be inspiring virtue, stimulating critical thinking skills, promoting character
development, as well as having fun! In this unique living/learning environment,
PAL teachers are primarily responsible for 8 to 10 children. You will use various
hands-on, minds-on educational activities as well as general cooperative learning
techniques. Teachers also facilitate large group activities and lead follow-up
discussions. A mandatory week-long training session is provided.
Project American Life generally runs from Tuesday at 9:00 A.M. until Friday
at 1:00 P.M. All PAL instructors have their own cabins, and there are no overnight
duties with the students.
Qualifications: The prospective employee must have a strong
personal character and love for children. Creativity and a sense of humor is
a big plus! A degree of some type is preferred, but not required. The candidate
must pass a mandatory background check.
For prospective employees who are unable to come in for personal interviews,
the following materials are needed: an up-to-date resume, two references (preferably
from people who have observed your work with children), a photo, and a short
writing sample explaining one's personal faith and/or worldview and how it relates
to children.
